From Burnout to Biotech: The Soft Power Behind Rice Remedy

I didn’t set out to start a skincare company.
I set out to feel soft again.

After more than a decade in emergency radiography, my body knew burnout before my mind would admit it. My nervous system was wired for crisis, not calm. Even my skin began to mirror my state reactive, red, and sensitive to everything.

The solution didn’t come from another serum or trend. It came from a place I had almost forgotten: my grandfather’s rice mill in Buriram, Thailand. In my childhood, rice wasn’t a “superfood.” It was daily life. Nourishing, grounding, and, as I would discover years later, the key to a skin recovery breakthrough.

In 2014, during Thailand’s rice crisis, my grandfather passed away and left my father and me the mill. At the same time, I met Sombat a multi-award-winning inventor and scientist who had spent over 30 years perfecting a patented rice biocellulose technology originally designed for burn patients.

His invention fascinated me. Biocellulose is a breathable, skin-adhering fibre made through natural fermentation.
